Once a suitable jacket has been found, it’s important to ensure that the size and fit is good.
The practical and easy-to-wear Pomppa jackets protect the dog from head to tail. The jacket stays on with ease and it doesn’t restrict the natural movement of the dog. A correctly sized and well-fitting jacket is also comfortable to wear for the dog and easy and quick to use for the dog owner.
The size of the Pomppa jacket is always determined by the dog’s back length and the intended use of the jacket. A jacket intended for heavy exercise and active outdoor life should sit firmly on the waist, however a jacket used for downtime in between performances and peaceful walking can be larger in size. When the jacket is required to fit especially well, it’s important to wear it correctly. See the attached videos for instructions on how to wear Pomppa jackets and JumppaPomppa!

Once the coat is on, the fit is easy to check by examining the tightness of the belt, the length of the belly panel, and how the rear section sits on the dog's back. Please note that the belt should always be tightened before assessing the fit. A correctly adjusted belt gathers the coat hems neatly away from the legs and keeps the back of the coat in place even during active movement. The belt tightness is ideal when you can fit no more than two fingers underneath it.
Also observe the dog from the side. The coat’s belly panel should extend to the dog’s waist. If the coat is too small, the belly panel will only reach the chest and therefore will not protect the dog’s abdomen or keep the back of the coat in place. The fit can also be checked when the dog lowers its head to the ground. If the coat stays on the dog’s back without rising up from the rear, the fit is good. In this case, the coat also protects the large thigh and back muscles while the dog is moving.

How to wear JumppaPomppa
JumppaPomppa is a flexible, slim-fitted thermal shirt that is easy to put on and quick to take off. As with all Pomppa coats, the correct size should be chosen primarily based on the dog’s back length. If the dog’s back measurement falls between two sizes, we recommend choosing the larger size to ensure a good fit and easy dressing. When correctly sized, the shirt's tail curve reaches at least to the base of the dog’s tail. This allows the shirt to sit over the dog's thighs, providing the best possible protection.
For dogs with deep and broad chests, the JumppaPomppa size can also be selected based on chest girth. In this case, the length of the shirt may extend beyond the dog’s back length. However, this does not affect the product’s functionality or thermal performance – the shirt remains flexible and snug.
When choosing either coat or a fleece shirt remember to also consider the dog’s gender, fur thickness, tail carriage, and any other factors that may affect the fit. You can always ask for help in finding the right size and fit.
